Installing Vidik
The guide ships inside the archive, which is no help at all while you are still looking at a browser warning. So it is here too — before you download anything.

Best downloaded in Safari — Chrome may warn that the file is rarely downloaded.
Your browser may warn you
Chrome and some other browsers may say that the file is rarely downloaded. That is about popularity, not about contents: Vidik was released recently, and it has not been downloaded many times yet. Safari gives no such warning.
Below are the checksum and the antivirus report, so that you can check the file yourself.
Check the file
In Terminal, run this against the archive you downloaded:
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Vidik.zip
It prints one line. The long value at the front must match the checksum below, character for character.

Installing

Unpack the archive if it did not unpack itself. Safari unpacks downloads automatically; in other browsers, double-click the file.

Drag Vidik into your Applications folder.

Double-click to launch. macOS will refuse and say that Apple could not verify the app is free of malware. This is expected: the app is signed, but not yet notarised with Apple. Press Done.

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll to the bottom. There will be a line about Vidik and an Open Anyway button — press it and confirm with your password.

One more warning appears with an Open Anyway button. Press it — the app opens.
This is only needed the first time. After that Vidik opens with an ordinary double-click.
If it still will not open: open Terminal, run
xattr -cr /Applications/Vidik.app
and repeat step 3.
Why macOS asks
Notarisation with Apple costs money and is issued to a company. It will happen. There is nothing hidden in Vidik: the checksum and the antivirus report above are there so you can see that for yourself.
Licence
Vidik runs in full for 100 days, with no sign-up. The key goes into the Vidik License window: it opens on first launch, and it can always be called up from the menu.
Connecting to Pro Tools
Vidik follows the session over HUI: Pro Tools sends its position, Vidik shows the picture. The link runs one way only — nothing is sent back into the session.
Setup → Peripherals, type HUI, Vidik as both the input and the output.
If Vidik is not in the input list — Setup → MIDI → MIDI Input Devices, tick it.
If the link has dropped — open Peripherals and press OK, it reconnects by itself.
